I was told that this might be the best place to post this question. It recently came to my attention that the SSSV/FF storline that never took place in the 1970's SSSV comic may have been printed in DC's old mag "Amazing World of DC Comics." Does anyone know if this is true, and if it is, what issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I remember rightly the SSSV did have something in one of those issues ( AWODCC issue # 11 the villain issue which has an unused version of SSSV # 1 ) but I think your thinking of one of the Cancelled Comic Cavalcade issues, namely SSSV #16 & 17 which had both the Freedom Fighters and JSA. If you go to the CCC link I put below you can see most of the art pages reproduced and there was a rather nice CCC webpage that had detailed text pieces about the CCC stuff but I cant remember the link at moment.

Try the following websites:

I couldn't access the link, but I can tell you that info you were told is incorrect.

The SSOSV series was never finished as a full comic anywhere. The storyline was wrapped up in flashbacks in Justice League of America (Series I) somewhere around # 167-169, where the three part tale of the SSOSV switching bodies with the JLA members took place. (Good story, by the way.)

The Amazing World issue in question (with a kick-butt Dick Dillin cover of the villains kicking the heroes out) had a full length B&w SSOSV story; the original 'origin' for the group that would have been it's # 1 issue, but was totally redone before publication!

And somewhere around there is a link to Bob-The Answer man-Rozakis' website, wherein he has the unpublished scripts for such delights as the final issues of Freedom Fighters, unpubbed Harlequin stories, and more. (The FF story where Rod reilly was transformed to silver has also not been officially 'published,' altho it MAY be one of the books in Cancelled Comics Cavalcade...I don't remember. Anyone have that info handy?)

Hope that helps!

For the Answerman (go treat yourself and look around ALL his columns...)

I tend to think that the Freedom Fighters issue WAS in Cancelled Comics Cavalcade (but am not 100% on that...)
